Intelligent Content 2009 - Presented by The Rockley Group
Palm Springs, California, USA, 29-30 January 2009
What is Intelligent Content?
Yesterday's content was static, hard to find, and difficult to manipulate. Today we're not restricted by the technology, format or use. Today we create, manage and deliver content in a more intelligent manner. In fact, the content itself must be almost 'intelligent'. Intelligent content is content which is:
* discoverable
* automatically reconfigurable
* semantically aware
* adaptable
* collaborative
* rich
Our own Joe Gollner, VP Content Processing Solutions is one of the 'featured speakers' and will be presenting a paper entitled: 'Content Fusion: There's a Piece of Data Lodged in my Document' which will showcase how completely data and documents can be integrated and what benefits and challenges emerge as a result. DocTrain Life Sciences
Indianapolis, Indiana, 23 - 26 June 2008
This conference was devoted to the particular content challenges faced by the health care and life sciences sector.
Joe Gollner, Stilo's VP, Content Processing Solutions, delivered a keynote presentation entitled Ensuring Information Quality: Leveraging Intelligent Automation. In the life sciences sector information quality, or its absence, can be a matter of life and death. The presentation introduced some background about the science of content validation and verification that is available to companies in the life sciences industry in its quest to achieve ever higher levels of quality.
Later Joe delivered a presentation on Health Information Portals: Case Studies. The cases were of a major institution responsible for setting health care standards which set out to establish a web portal that would provide an integrated view of useful health information for the public, and an independent agency in the pharmaceutical sector determined that it needed to deliver a new generation of intelligent drug look-up tools. These cases illustrated, graphically, the types of challenges that need to be addressed and the magnitude of the benefits that can be realized when these challenges are overcome.

DocTrain West 2008
Vancouver, Canada, 6 - 9 May 2008
The theme of the 2nd Annual Documentation & Training West Conference was Web 2.0 and Its Impact on Communication.
Joe Gollner, Stilo's VP, Content Processing Solutions, presented several different papers at the conference, along with his ever-popular Content Engineering Workshop.
Joe's first presention was entitled 'XML in the Wilderness', and focused on how Web 2.0 innovations are taking XML back to its roots as a language for designing content and the associated processing applications. Joe also presented 'Putting Everything Back Together Again: Delivering Effective Information Products' - in which he reviewed the demands that must be met if modularized content is to be assembled, resolved, compiled and rendered into the types of information products that people rightfully expect.
Joe's final presented was entitled 'Extreme Content Makeover: Migrating Content to DITA'. A successful migration of content to DITA can be a harrowing experience, but past experiences have shown that success is fully achievable and that what may seem to be an insurmountable mountain of legacy content can become the most durable part of a successful renovation project.
