Migrate service extended to include conversion of MS Word to JATS

Stilo extends Migrate cloud XML conversion service to include the automated conversion of MS Word to the Journal Article Tag Suite (JATS) specification.

The Migrate cloud conversion service has been used by global customers to convert over a million pages of content from various source formats to XML. The Migrate JATS service is now available, and enables journal, academic and book publishers to automate the conversion of MS Word documents to the National Information Standards Organization JATS specification, in the cloud.

Migrate offers a radically different approach to traditional outsourced conversion services, i.e.

  • A dedicated conversion portal, accessible 24x7x365
  • Immediate turnaround times for document conversion
  • Full user control over conversion results with an easy-to-use rules editor
  • A scalable solution for any number of journals, reports, articles or books
  • Low cost pricing

For customers with documents to convert on an ongoing basis, Migrate can be deployed as part of a publishing workflow. Alternatively, for customers with less frequent conversion requirements we can offer an outsourced conversion service, with Stilo utilizing Migrate ‘behind the scenes’. Either way, document conversion is quick, high-quality and cost-effective.

Free sample conversion offer

To quickly assess the quality of the Migrate service, simply upload your sample MS Word document and we will convert it free of charge, review the results with you, and provide you with the output for your own evaluation and testing purposes.

Smart guidance in your enterprise authoring environment | Acrolinx & AuthorBridge

Presented by Ulrich Callmeier, COO | Acrolinx
Les Burnham, CEO and Patrick Baker, VP Development & Professional Services | Stilo

How can you ensure content quality and consistency across your company and how can you be confident your content will achieve the desired results? These are some of the biggest challenges organizations face as they attempt to scale and grow their content production.

Join us, and our partner Acrolinx, for this Stilo DITA Knowledge Series webinar as we show you how content optimization software helps you keep everything you write on-brand and on-target. Built on an advanced linguistic engine, Acrolinx software “reads” and scores your content and guides your writers to make it better. Like having your own personal content coach at all times, Acrolinx pinpoints areas to improve and displays them in a convenient sidebar directly within your authoring environment.

And, as Acrolinx is now integrated with Stilo’s browser-based enterprise DITA authoring solution, AuthorBridge – you can not only guide writers to make content better, you can also guide them to author structured content without requiring any knowledge of DITA or XML. AuthorBridge provides visual controls and cues to guide the author naturally, with no explicit tagging or structure to directly manage, allowing the SME to concentrate exclusively on authoring the content.

The webinar included a demo of Acrolinx and AuthorBridge.

IBM and Stilo to present at CMS/DITA North America

Stilo is pleased to announce that its presentation with IBM’s Mike Iantosca has been accepted onto the conference program for CMS/DITA North America 2016, April 4-6 in Reston, Virginia.

The presentation will take place on Monday, April 4 at 2.35pm as part of the Information Design & Development Track, with a feature on Lightweight DITA.

Intelligent Content Authoring for Everyone

The power of intelligent content becomes possible only when that intelligence is intentionally injected, most often in the form of structure and descriptive semantics. That intelligence helps machines do their automated magic. Most often, the needed structure and semantics are added by humans during content authoring. Content management, for both content development and delivery, generally becomes more powerful, flexible, and valuable with the growth of structure and semantics–but at the price of complexity and required skills for content creators. Structured content authoring tools have advanced, masking some of that complexity, but even so-called lightweight and tag-less authoring tools leave gaps for diverse content creators and contributors, making intelligent content component strategies for the enterprise an elusive proposition.

What can the audience expect to learn?

Iantosca lays out a multi-tier strategy for addressing the needs of organizations with diverse authoring roles and skills, from professional content creators through casual contributors.

Extreme Networks and Stilo to deliver joint presentation at CMS/DITA North America

Stilo is pleased to announce that the following presentation with Extreme Network’s Christina Mayr has been accepted onto the conference program for CMS/DITA North America 2016, April 4-6 in Reston, Virginia.

The presentation will take place on Wednesday, April 6 at 10.35am as part of the Management Issues Track. You can find out more about CMS/DITA North America on the conference website.

“Extreme” DITA conversion: Lessons learned from doing it the hard way

Converting to DITA can be a difficult and time-consuming process—if you do it the hard way. Extreme Networks converted content 3 years ago, but quickly learned there is an easier, faster, and less expensive way. Through practical tips, cautionary tales and some real-world examples, Christina Mayr, Technical Editor, InfoDev RDU Team at Extreme Networks, will help you set up a plan for a successful DITA conversion project.

Christina will be joined by Helen St. Denis, Conversion Services Manager at Stilo, who will provide some practical insight into some of the biggest conversion mistakes people make when moving to DITA and how to avoid them, based on her experience of helping Stilo customers convert many tens of thousands of pages of content to DITA. Helen will guide you in what you need to do to make sure your DITA conversion project will be successful and also how to ensure that your content will be the high-quality DITA that you need.

What can the audience expect to learn?

This session is designed to be interactive. It will benefit those looking to convert to DITA for the first time, who are not sure where to start or how to develop a plan for a successful DITA conversion project–as well as those who have been burnt by a bad conversion before and want to learn about best practices. We encourage participants to come armed with their questions!
